I’m often asked my favourite app for creating Lead Magnets, so this week’s #appoftheweek answers that question for you.

If you’re a WordPress User, then my favourite lead app is Thrive Leads. I’ve used it on my own website for years, and used it with dozens of clients.

What different ways can you collect leads with Thrive Leads?

There are a huge number of types of lead forms you can set up with Thrive Leads. The main ones that I use often are:

  • A bar / ribbon – this is a sticky bar at the top of the page. I like to use this on all main pages and find they convert very well.
  • Pop Up boxes – with thrive you can have all types of pop-up boxes and place them whereever you would like on the page – for example, in the bottom left, bottom right, centre.
    My favourite way to use pop-ups is to have them pop-up in the centre of the screen when a user is going to exit your site. This is called an exit-intent pop-up.
  • Embedded forms – forms can be embedded anywhere on your site to collect leads. For example, on a landing page, in a sidebar, or at the bottom of blog posts.

What type of opt-in form is the most effective?

Good question. And the answer is – you’ll have to test which is most effective for your audience.

The thing I like about Thrive Leads is that it makes testing which way is most successful really easy.

For example, below is a comparison image for 2 different lead magnets, both with different opt-in types:

We can see that for one, the ribbon is more successful, and for the other, the exit-intent lightbox is more successful.

We can also see that one of the Lead Magnets is much more appealing than the other – with an average conversion rate of 1.87% vs 1.02%.
